I saw a post on Buzzfeed about Valentine’s nail art, and their 2nd pick, I knew I had to try as a challenge. Unfortunately, the first time, I tried painting the lines, but my straight lines aren’t so hot… so here was the do-over. The post is came from – 2nd choice on 26 Ridiculously Sweet Valentine’s Day Nail Art Designs.
So, did I kind of nail it?
How I did it.
- Black Onyx by O.P.I. Nail Lacquer, or any black nail polish
- Suzi Shops & Island Hops by O.P.I. Nail Lacquer
- Straight nail art sticker guides/ tape
- Small nail art dotting tool
I painted 2 coats of the pink on the ring finger and pointer finger. I painted the pinky, middle, and thumb nails with 2 coats of nail polish.
I let them completely dry, and then carefully placed 5 strips of the straight nail sticker guides vertically, on my ring finger. I left a very small line in between each. Once the sticker guides were placed, I took the black nail polish and colored each space, staggering the lines. The outer lines were the same length, but the inner two lines, were longer. I left one of the inner lines longer than the other.
Once done, I took the dotting tool and painted some upside down hearts at the end of each line, on the ring finger, and then 3 more near the tip of the pointer fingernail. To create hearts, I made 2 dots for the top curves, and then gently filled in the slanted lines. They’re not completely perfect, and of course, it takes time to master painting hearts. You could probably try a fine nail art brush to paint the rest of the heart, if you are looking for finer, cleaner lines.
